Natural Remedies for Hypertension

Over one third of Americans have hypertension. All those people think they need to be put on meds to get their blood pressure back to normal. You probably know someone first hand either in your family, at work or in your circle of friends. For some people that is the only way to get their blood pressure into normal ranges. However, for others, there are natural remedies for lowering blood pressure.

One of the best ways if not the best way, is exercise. I know, many do not want to hear that, right?! Exercise is a wonderful remedy for a huge number of ailments. For people that are overweight, have high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.

Here is the good news! You don’t have to hit the gym seven days a week, or workout so hard you almost pass out. All it takes is a brisk walk for 20 to 30 minutes a day. All you have to do is just get your heart pumping and you are on your way. Some days work a little harder and break that sweat.

Another remedy is cutting out processed foods. Try to stop eating at fast food restaurants; those are the worst places to go if you are trying to get healthy. There have been several documentaries on PBS and Netflix about what fast food can do to your body and your blood pressure.

Salt, switch to sea or Himalayan salt and use it in moderation. There are other things out there to add flavor to your food. Stop eating fried food, fried chicken, fried pork chops, fried fish; it’s all bad for you. If you still want to eat those kinds of food, well, you can. Just bake, broil or grill it. If you still want that fried food, I am a big proponent of moderation.

One of the hardest things I had to do is cut back on my sodas. It’s true, look on the back of the labels of the next drink you have. You would be amazed at the high level of sodium that goes into each serving.

I know the alternative for soda doesn’t sound too appealing; however water is the best alternative for you. Water does not do the damage that soda does and it’s a heck of a lot cheaper. It will make a world of difference in the way you feel as well.

Eat plenty of fruit, people, apples, grapes, you name it. It is good for you. Try to eat grapes as a snack instead of pigging out with candy and potato chips. They taste just as good and it’s a whole lot cheaper and so much better for you.

A restful night’s sleep is another natural way to lower blood pressure. Several ways to ensure a good night’s sleep is to set the right temperature. A lower room temperature helps to decrease your body’s internal thermometer and initiating sleepiness to help you stay comfortable throughout the night.

I know all these remedies may be tougher to do than I make it out to be. However, you have to take that first step. I would not recommend trying to cut everything out all at one time. I would take one step one week, then another in a couple of weeks and so on and so on.

It is your life and you are the only one that can determine if you want to do this. The best preventative measure to lower blood pressure is a healthy lifestyle. If you decide to go with these hypertension natural remedies, your body will thank you for it, and so will the people who love you.

Distress or Chronic Stress

Distress or chronic stress is uncontrollable, prolonged, or overwhelming stress. Once stress becomes distress, the body manages to survive though not always to thrive. For example, when faced with periods of chronic stress, the body’s immune system function is lowered, and the digestive, excretory, and reproductive systems no longer function the way they should. In a state of distress, the cells of the immune system (and other body systems) are unable to respond normally and produce levels of inflammation which increase the risk of further health issues.

Homeostasis

Homeostasis refers to your body’s ability to regulate itself and maintain a comparatively stable internal environment despite external and internal conditions and events.

Your body is designed to be in a state of homeostasis, where all the systems within are functioning optimally.

Stressor

Stressor is anything that is perceived by the body as challenging, threatening or demanding.

Health Story

In the context of My Wellbeing Compass, your “Health Story” represents the combination of your dis-eases, conditions, symptoms and the history that binds them together. It is multi-layered and multi-dimensional. Unearthing and resolving the root causes at the core of your Health Story is the only way to truly rewrite this Story.

Natural Self-repair Mechanisms

The body is made up of intelligent, living cells that are dynamically connected. They communicate and just know what to do and when to do it in any given situation. They grow, replicate, repair, and age. Every 90 days, the body has a new bloodstream; every year, it manufactures billions of new cells; colon cells refresh every 4 days; the skin is entirely regenerated every 2-3 weeks; white blood cells regenerate in about 1 year; the liver renews itself at least once every 2 years; and the skeleton replaces its cells entirely every 10 years.

You are an incredibly complex, interactive, and dynamic living organism that is well-equipped with self-repair mechanisms that can fight infections, eliminate toxins, fix damaged DNA, destroy cancer cells, and even slow down aging.

This natural self-healing ability (also referred to as cellular intelligence or body’s innate intelligence) explains spontaneous remissions from seemingly “incurable” diseases.
